4/1: Photography Prompt

This image was taken during class when asked to observe something around TC. We had been discussing in class how light is a significant aspect of photography which is seen by the camera differently than the human eye. As a result, I chose to capture a wall flecked with reflection. The three geometric and identical outlets carried a nice reinforcement to the original theme since power is the source of the artificial light reflected on the wall.

NEW IDEAS

1. Continue with the theme of light (which is central to photography) as subject matter. Take four additional photographs that express observations in light, then manipulate them digitally on photoshop or another editing app to either emphasize the light or play with the theme.

2. Explore the digital work through two additional mediums (ex: drawing, painting, digital media, collage, sculpture, etc.) Fully flesh out and explore the subject matter that was captured in a single instant on a cell phone through the careful observation and contemplation needed to express it through a new visual language.

FEEDBACK

Speaking to Ben, his enthusiasm lay with the first prompt. He suggested that because the first photograph centered on reflective light, the other three images could explore other qualities of light, e.g. bounced light, direct light, source light, or to at least keep those in mind while looking for subject matter.
